Deadliest Mass Shooting in U.S. History - Where was God during this? October 2, 2017 © by Ronald Kern © Ronald Kern OPINION A retired accountant opened fire from a hotel room, overlooking more than 22,000 attendees of an outdoor concert in Las Vegas, on 10/1/17, at about 10:00pm.  Having two vantag points to shoot from (two corner windows) and armed with 10 rifles and thousands of rounds of ammunition, it was a maniac and deranged persons ideal situation.  He sprayed the crowd below him, literally like fish in a barrel, and as I write this, there is 59 confirmed deaths and more than 527 wounded, most shot while some trampled to death in the chaotic attempt to escape. My daughter sent me a text after retiring to bed about a shooter in Las Vegas, which prompted me to get on my iPad to read the latest reports.  Subsequently, this led me to tune into a police scanner of the Las Vegas Po...

BLESS YOURSELF BY BLESSING OTHERS FIRST I felt compelled to write this, hoping others can learn this “key to life” long before I did. The sooner you truly understand it, and most importantly implement it, the happier you will be. There was a time in my life when I felt the world — no, the universe —revolved around me, what I said, and what I did. Long before any social media, I had my own network of people that spread the news quickly, if I wanted. I did well in high school, was voted class vice president, excelled in tennis, and was “one of the guys.”  It was a time for me to do what I wanted, when I wanted, and people followed. My mother had raised me with this gem of advice: “Be kind to others, no matter who they are; you haven't walked in their shoes.” And in those glory days, there were glimmers of me remembering this wisdom; however, it wasn't consistent. As I continued into the business world, I did well with one ...

When The Going Gets Tough - Just Quit!

Image
When you are having a bad day and it appears that nothing is going right, don't you think about throwing in the towel and quitting?  When people lie and say things about you or your family that stirs a rage and anger that causes your blood to boil, why not quit?  When your employer, family, or friends seem to take you for granted, just quit trying, right?   When roadblocks appear for no logical reason, and appear too difficult to proceed, why not throw in the towel and choose another direction?  You can insert your own personal struggle here, as attacks are very personalized and satan knows where to hit you. The form and type of attack can hit anyone from any direction, and at anytime, usually the worst time possible, right?   So I'll circle back and ask you the question, why not just quit? I believe the enemy can be companies, individuals, satan (he doesn’t deserve a capital “S”), or a combination of such, or as much as we would hate to admi...

A New Chapter Begins - (Published November 11, 2013)

When your passion and interests change (and they will over time), it's important to take inventory of what is really important to you and what your future is going to look like, and make changes as needed. There are different levels of change, ranging from easy and of barely any consequence, to life-changing events that will completely reshape your future.  If you need new passion and have the faith in God to make such changes, then you should do so when possible.  In practicing what I preach, both Lisa and I have taken our second leap of faith recently, and wanted to relay that news here. We started the largest of our companies on a folding table in the basement of my parents house, 21 years ago.  With a lot of hard work, a little luck, and God guiding us, it soon became a full-time job and eventually we quit our "real" jobs.   There were very few people who thought it would work, and doubters quickly provided ample reasons on why it wouldn't work.  Sadl...
